KOTA KINABALU: The Fire and Rescue Department came to the aid of a man in Kunak who accidentally impaled his big toe with a sharp object early Tuesday (June 7) morning.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said that a distress call on the incident was received at 2.45am Tuesday.
A man in his 20s had managed to get himself into a predicament while trying to catch crabs.
"The victim was already at the Kunak Hospital when the Fire and Rescue team was alerted.
"The team found the victim had accidentally impaled himself with an iron pole used to catch crabs.
"They proceeded to remove the iron piece using a mini cutter and managed to get it out of the victim's foot safely. The operation ended at 3am," the spokesman said.
