The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been heavily criticised in the UK for their continued attacks on the Royal Family but now it appears they are losing favour in the US for their public outbursts. American journalist Raymond Arroyo has ranted about Meghan and Harry's "fake royal routine" and blasted the couple for trashing the Royal Family while continuing to cash in on its name.

Speaking on Fox News, Mr Arroyo discussed Meghan's recent video, where she launched her new 40x40 campaign.

The two-minute clip saw Meghan promote the initiative with actress Melissa McCarthy, with Harry making a short cameo at the end by juggling outside.

Commenting on the video, the US commentator said: "What is most galling about this, is the fake royal routine.

"Never has anyone publicly decried an institution like the Royal Family while trying to assume its trappings for profit and attention like Meghan Markle has."

Mr Arroyo then mocked the Duke for his juggling cameo.

He said: "The most embarrassing part of this video was at the conclusion.

"This is Harry, who has transitioned from royal highness to royal fool."

During the Fox News chat, host Laura Ingraham agreed and quipped: "He juggled his way from prince to court jester."

Meghan shared the video last Wednesday, on what was her 40th birthday.

In the clip she asked leaders and influential people to contribute 40 minutes of their time to mentor women returning to the workplace.

9.25am update: Prince Charles plan to cut down Firm when king 'could create more problems than it solves'

It is often argued Charles's plan to axe the number of working royals would cut costs to the British taxpayer.

However, a constitutional expert has explained why this is not the case and argued slimming down the monarchy could actually create more problems than it resolves.

Asked to share his thoughts on Charles's rumoured plans for a slimmed-down monarchy, academic Iain MacMarthanne told Express.co.uk: "The fundamental question is: what is Prince Charles’s vision for the monarchy when he succeeds, of which its membership is but one of many questions, perhaps even the least important of them.

"Ultimately the matter of a slimmed-down membership is about perception and what drives that.

"The debate is contextualised by cost, value for money, and a desire to ensure royals are not seen as hangers-on. The simple and obvious solution is to reduce numbers."

8.40am update: 40-year-old slice of Diana's wedding cake going up for auction

A slice of Princess Diana and Prince Charles's wedding cake is going up for auction on Wednesday.

Charles and Diana married in a fairytale ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral in 1981.

And 40 years later, a piece of cake from their royal wedding is expected to fetch up to £500 when it goes under the hammer on Wednesday at Dominic Winter Auctioneers in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

The large slice is from one of Charles and Diana's 23 official wedding cakes.

8.15am update: Thomas Markle Jr sparks wave of sympathy for Meghan after 'shallow' attack

Thomas Markle JR has triggered an outpouring of sympathy for the Duchess of Sussex after telling an Australian reality TV show she was "very shallow."

Thomas Markle Jr's appearance on Australian Big Brother has sparked a wave of sympathy for the Duchess of Sussex. Meghan Markle's half-brother launched a stinging attack at the Duchess in a recent teaser for the reality show.

In the short preview clip, Thomas calls his sister "very shallow" before going on to claim he warned Prince Harry that Meghan would "ruin his life." The remarks were slammed by the presenters and guests of Daily Pop on E! News.

"I do feel bad for Meghan, yeah I am a big brother," said contributor Victor Cruz
