The pedestrian was outside a crosswalk in a dimly lit area of the road, the statement said, and may have already been on the ground before being struck. Police said it was unknown if he had been hit by another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement.
Police identified the pedestrian as Robert Paul Lee King, 43, of Woodbridge.
Police asked anyone with information about the crash to contact them.
