Multiple injuries reported after vehicle plows through Wisconsin parade A mother recounts the scene of a car driving through a holiday parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin on ‘Sunday Night in America.’

A parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin was interrupted after a car could be seen in a live stream zooming by a parade and reportedly crashed into bystanders.

Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson confirmed in a press conference Sunday that a red SUV drove through parade barricades and struck at least 20 individuals, including children.

Thompson said an officer opened fire on the suspect and a person of interest is currently in custody but stressed that the investigation is "very active."

The parade was live streamed for a period of time and in the video the red SUV can be seen speeding by the parade and the audience can be heard gasping and looking toward that direction.

A police officer can then be seen running that direction before the stream ends.

Fox News 6 Milwaukee reporter Sam Kraemer interviewed a man on the scene who said "most of his family are in the hospital."

"He’s just blowing through people, kind of just dinging a lot of people, bodies flying everywhere," 19-year-old Brayden Kowalski, who was at the parade, told Fox News Digital.

Angelito Tenorio, a West Allis alderman who is running for Wisconsin state treasurer, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he was watching the parade with his family when they saw the SUV come speeding into the area.

"Then we heard a loud bang, and just deafening cries and screams from people who are who are struck by the vehicle," Tenorio said. "And then, and then we saw people running away or stopping crying, and there, there are people on the ground who looked like they’d been hit by the vehicle."

"Please avoid the downtown area for the time being," the Waukesha Police Department posted on Facebook, adding that a family reunification location was set up at Metro Transit Center by Bank St.
