PETALING JAYA: Water levels in several areas in Shah Alam and Subang Jaya continue to rise following a downpour that lasted several hours.
Though the rain had stopped in Subang Jaya since 8.30pm Monday (March 7), residents at USJ1 and PJS 9/1 were advised by Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng to move their valuables and vehicles to higher ground, as water levels at the Klang River were rising.
"Water levels along the Klang River are rising. Residents, factory owners and shop owners in PJS9/1 and USJ1 are advised to move items to higher ground, and vehicles away from the river," said Ng in a Facebook post on Monday (March 7) evening.
Several pictures on Facebook also showed that water levels were rising at the industrial area near USJ1, and people were seen moving away their valuables.
Meanwhile, a check at the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) portal also showed that water level at the Taman Sri Muda water monitoring station to be at 5.33m, which was considered a dangerous level, and evacuation must be initiated.
Water level at the Bandar Klang station was also at a dangerous level at 3.02m, according to the DID.
Taman Sri Muda was heavily flooded during a downpour on Dec 17, resulting in several deaths.
