Kemi Badenoch skewered Sir Keir Starmer over Rachel Reeves in a fiery PMQs clash. The Tory leader branded the Chancellor's Spring Statement next Wednesday as an “emergency Budget”.
She asked: “The Chancellor claimed that her Budget was a once-in-a-parliamentary reset. So why are we having an emergency Budget next week?”

The Prime Minister replied: "We have delivered record investment into this country, had three interest rates cuts in a row, and wages are going up faster than prices, which is a massive cost-of-living boost. That’s after only eight months, after 14 years of absolute failure. What did they do? Interest rates 11%, a massive £22billion black hole in the economy. They crashed the economy, we’re rebuilding Britain."

PM warned he faces 'mother of all rebellions'
Sir Keir Starmer was warned he will be hit by the "mother of all rebellions" if he does not backtrack on £5 billion of welfare cuts.
Left-wing Labour MP Richard Burgon made the comment on X after the Prime Minister insisted that the current benefits system is "morally and economically indefensible" at PMQs.
Mr Burgon said: "The Prime Minister was unable to answer a simple question today about why a disabled person who needs help to eat, wash and manage toilet needs could no longer get personal independence payments under his proposals.
"The Government must drop this cruel proposal or it’ll face the mother of all rebellions."

Starmer refuses to rule out extending income tax threshold freeze
Kemi Badenoch said: “Winter fuel payments have been snatched. The jobs tax is hammering everyone from business to charities. The Chancellor promised a once in parliament Budget that she would not come back for more.
“And in that Budget she said there will be no extension of the freeze in income tax thresholds. Ahead of the emergency Budget will he repeat the commitment that she made?”
Sir Keir Starmer replied: “She has got such pre-scripted questions she can;’t actually adapt them to the answers I am giving. I think she now calls herself a Conservative realist, well I am realistic about the Conservatives.
“The reality is they left open borders... they trashed the economy... the NHS was left on its knees and they hollowed out the armed forces...”

Badenoch accuses Starmer of 'not listening' to hospices
Kemi Badenoch said: "I remember when he made that announcement, he's forgotten because the money he's referring to for hospices is for buildings, it's not for salaries hit by the jobs tax."
She highlighted St Helena Hospice saying that funding could not be used for wages where help is needed.
The Tory leader asked: "Why is the Prime Minister not listening to hospices?"

Badenoch presses Starmer about exempting hospices
The Tory leader said: "He hasn't made these provisions.
"He keeps talking about budget benefits - unemployment is not a benefit, businesses closing is not a benefit."
In response to Mrs Badenoch again asking if he would exempt hospices from the national insurance increases, the Prime Minister replied: "We've already invested £100 million for adult and children's hospices, an additional £26 million in funding through the children's hospices grant."

Badenoch urges Starmer to exempt key services from national insurance hike
Kemi Badenoch said: "The only black hole is the one he is digging. He's shown absolutely no regret but everybody knows the Chancellor has made a mistake, that is why they're having an emergency budget.
"Later today, Conservatives will vote to exempt hospices, pharmacies and care providers from her national insurance rise. Will he, at the very least, support exempting these vulnerable services from his jobs tax?"
The PM replied: "I noticed she didn't say they're going to reverse the national insurance rises. She wants all the benefits but they can't say how they're going to pay for it. She carps from the sideline but can't make her mind up whether she supports or doesn't support national insurance rises.
"We've made provision for hospices, we've made provisions for charities but we had to secure the economy, we had to fill the £22 billion black hole that they disgracefully left."

Badenoch slams Labour's tax increases
Kemi Badenoch asked if Labour regretted increasing national insurance contributions for employers in last October's budget.
The Conservative leader said: "He knows why we're having an emergency budget, because since the last once, since the Chancellor delivered her budget in October growth is down, borrowing is up and she has destroyed business confidence.
"Does the Prime Minister now regret raising taxes on business?"
Sir Keir Starmer responded: "The Office for Budget Responsibility will present their numbers, there will be a spring statement next week.
"We've got record investment into this country, interest rates have been cut, and she talks about national insurance, we had to fill the £22 billion black hole that they left.
"We've invested in the NHS, in schools and public services, we're pressing on with planning, with infrastructure and regulation, but I understand the leader of the Opposition is straight talking so perhaps she can help us with this, is she going to reverse the national insurance contributions increase? If not, what's the point? If so, what other taxes is she raising to fill the hole?"

Badenoch grills Starmer on 'emergency budget'
In her first question, the leader of the Opposition asked about Rachel Reeves's spring statement next Wednesday.
She said: "The Chancellor claimed that her budget was a once in a parliamentary reset. So why are we having an emergency budget next week?"
The Prime Minister replied: "We have delivered record investment into this country, had three interest rates cuts in a row, and wages are going up faster than prices which is a massive cost-of-living boost.

What topics could come up at PMQs?
Kemi Badenoch has plenty of options to choose from to grill Sir Keir Starmer about at PMQs.
The Tory leader could ask about Labour's £5 billion welfare cuts which have sparked fury from left-wing backbenchers.
She could also question the PM on the Ukraine war after US President Donald Trump had a phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin yesterday on a peace deal.
There is also the upcoming spring statement as Chancellor Rachel Reeves attempts to balance the books in the face of economic woes.
And Mrs Badenoch could press Sir Keir on the issue of net zero after she gave a major speech on the subject earlier this week.
