GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Hill funicular railway service will reopen to visitors from Friday (Oct 1).
Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 30) it intends to gradually reopen the popular tourist attraction in step with phases of the National Recovery Plan.
"The Penang Hill funicular service would like to welcome back visitors from 1 October 2021," the statement read.
The first trip of the service will be at 6.30am followed by one at 7am, and at hourly intervals thereafter.
The last trip will be at 8pm and any additional trips will be scheduled if necessary, the statement added.
Each trip of the funicular service will have a 50-passenger limit, which is 50% of its total capacity.
PHC said visitors taking the funicular from the Lower Station to the Upper Station and back are required to always adhere strictly to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
"They must be fully vaccinated, check in with their MySejahtera application, and have Low Risk / No Symptom status in MySejahtera," the statement said.
PHC said visitors must also do a temperature check, wear facemasks at all times, practise physical distancing and sanitise their hands frequently.
