KOTA KINABALU: A woman, believed to be mentally handicapped, was rescued from the window ledge located on the first floor of a shoplot in Sandakan at around 4pm on Friday (Nov 19).

       Passers-by spotted the woman, in her 20s, outside the window of the Sim Sing Hup building in Batu 8, Sandakan and alerted firemen.

       Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Misran Bisara said a ladder was used to bring the woman down to safety.

       "She was handed back to her family after that," he said in a statement.
