KOTA KINABALU: A mountain search and rescue team was called to provide assistance to a woman who seemed to be in a state of delirium halfway up Mount Kinabalu on Thursday (Feb 10) evening.

The 50-year-old was taking shelter with other climbers at KM4 of the mountain trail, near Layang-Layang hut when she started acting abnormally.

State Fire and Rescue Department deputy operations chief Misran Bisara said rescuers were informed of the matter at about 7pm.

He said a mountain search and rescue team (Mosar) was sent to help bring the woman down.

She was placed on a stretcher and brought down to Timpohon gate, where she was handed over to her family for further action, he added.

"TheOperations ceased at around 1.20am," Misran said.

It was unclear whether the woman’s family took her to the hospital or used alternative methods to treat her condition.
