KOTA KINABALU: Two members of the Royal Malaysian Navy were killed in an accident near the Sepanggar Port late Wednesday (April 13).
The duo - Ahmad Faiz Mohd Hanif, 39, and Norasnizam Mohd Alui, 36, were believed to have died after crashing into the rear of a trailer at around 9pm.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Misran Bisara said they received a call about the incident at 9.14pm.
“We were informed of two victims, motorcyclists, following the accident along Jalan Sabah Port, Sepanggar,” he said in a statement.
He said that based on the information received, Ahmad was from the SK TLDM Kota Kinabalu navy unit and Norasnizam from the KD Selangor unit.
“Medical personnel pronounced them dead at the scene,” Misran said.
He said the bodies of both victims have been surrendered to the police for further action.
The trailer driver did not sustain any injuries.
Investigation to the cause of the mishap is ongoing.
