KOTA KINABALU: An elderly woman who was reported missing in Kota Belud district several days ago has been found.

       Gorin Galais, 74, was reported missing on May 6, two days after she was last seen in Kg Melangkap Kapa.

       Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Misran Bisara said a search was mounted together with villagers who knew the area.

       She was found in the woods at 10.43am on May 7, he said.

       "There were injuries on her head. She was tired and weak when found," he said in a statement.

       Misran said Gorin went missing on May 4 after going into the jungle to forage for vegetables.

       It is unclear what happened as rescuers have yet to speak to her due to her current weakened state, he said.

       "She was taken to the hospital for treatment after she was found," he said, adding that the search operation ended at around 1pm.
