KOTA KINABALU: Three temporary evacuation centres (PPS) have been opened in Pitas to accommodate 311 evacuees from 97 families affected by floods in the area following continuous heavy rain since Sunday (Feb 6).

       The Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in a statement, said evacuees from six villages are being housed at three PPS - SK Pekan Pitas II hall which houses 108 people from 41 families; SK Rukom hall (135 evacuees from 36 families) and Kampung Kusilad hall (68 people from 20 families) - as of 8am Monday (Feb 7).

       All the PPS were opened since yesterday afternoon due to the rising water level in the villages involved, namely Kampung Tambilidon; Kampung Kalumpang; Kampung Taka; Kampung Saab Darat; Kampung Rukom Ulu and Kampung Kusilad. - Bernama
