Vitaly Churkin’s name is already inscribed on the tablets of history. He will remain forever in the memory of Russian, as well as international diplomacy and politics.

       I deeply regret and grieve for the death of Vitaly Churkin. He was a brilliant diplomat and politician, a person who won outstanding trust and respect of both supporters and opponents of the Russian foreign policy.

       It is wrong to believe that politics, even international politics, is a matter of faceless forces, states and organizations. Politics is always a matter of individuals, their ability to express what is going on, to persuade and argue.

       History, as we know, is a story of personal achievements of personalities. The most outstanding of them are remembered forever.

       I am sure that Vitaly Churkin’s name is already inscribed on the tablets of history. He will remain forever in the memory of Russian, as well as international diplomacy and politics. May he rest in peace. And how disgusting it is to say “was” referring to people.
