ALOR GAJAH: A four-year-old boy and his elder brother were killed on the spot after their motorcycle skidded and hit a brick wall along Jalan Air Tanai in Ayer Paa’bas, here.
Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said that both the brothers died on the spot in the incident at 9.15pm on Monday (Aug 23).
He identified the victims as Zahrul Fitri Amer, 16, and Alif Wafiy Amer, four, from Taman Kebaya Kampung Paya Datok, here.
"The elder brother had no driving licence and both siblings died due to severe head injuries," he said on Tuesday (Aug 24).
Supt Arshad said the brothers were not wearing crash helmets when the incident occurred.
He said the father of the siblings, Amer Abdul Malek, 43, told police that his sons were on the way to a shop before he heard the news that his sons had died.
Supt Arshad said the brothers died after ramming into the wall of a signboard, about one kilometre from their home.
"The younger victim who was riding pillion had also sustained bodily injuries," he said.
He added an investigation is being carried out under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
