The Climate Change Committee (CCC) warns the Government today that Britain's ambitious targets must be backed up with firm policies. It comes as the advisory body delivered its last reports before November's Cop26 United Nations climate change conference in Glasgow.
It calls for action to cut emissions from homes and transport, cutting meat consumption by a fifth by 2030, restoring peatland and helping people move to low-carbon jobs.
Committee CEO Chris Stark said: "The targets are not going to be achieved by magic, so surprisingly little has been done so far to deliver on them."
CCC chairman Lord Deben warned: "Everyone is looking for action and delivery, not just promises.
"If we haven't shown the way in which we're going to deliver...the whole concept of global Britain being a leader will be undermined."
