OTTAWA, April 12 (Xinhua) -- A police officer was stabbed and a suspect was shot during an altercation in Toronto, Canada's biggest city, on Friday afternoon, local media reported.

       The incident occurred in the parking lot of a plaza in the area of College Street and Lansdowne Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. local time, the report said.

       The officer and the person who was shot by police were rushed to hospital via emergency run and both are listed in stable condition, according to the report.
