QUESTIONS have risen over RM2.6mil allocated to SJK(T) St Philomena Convent in Ipoh, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The school had long requested for an additional building to the current three-storey structure to cater for the growing enrolment, according to Buntong assemblyman A. Sivasubramaniam.

The government, he said, had announced the allocation in 2018.

Following the change in government, however, there has been no word on the fund, he said as he urged the current government to quickly act on the matter.

       > A candidate of Tamil cinema star Kamal Haasan’s party, Makkal Needhi Maiam, is believed to have taken his life after getting only 44 votes in the recent local government elections, the daily also reported.

The victim, identified as Mani, 55, is said to be a labourer in Thiruppur, Tamil Nadu, and had apparently borrowed up to 50,000 rupees (RM2,700) from neighbours and friends to finance his bid as a city councillor.
