KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Bar chairman Karen Cheah says police did not allow participants of the Walk for Judicial Independence to walk to Parliament due to safety reasons.

Instead, she said the police had suggested that the group select 20 representatives who would be allowed to walk to Parliament to hand over the memorandum of protest.

After some negotiations, Cheah then told the crowd that deputy de facto law minister Datuk Wira Mas Ermieyanti Shamsudin would be coming to Padang Merbok to receive the memorandum.

After receiving the memorandum, Mas Ermieyanti assured the crowd that she would give it to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
