Liverpool house of horrors: Human remains found in jar in Toxteth – police tests ongoing

       Merseyside Police were called to an unoccupied address on Wordsworth Street, Toxteth, Liverpool on Monday at 12:10pm. Officers at the scene discovered a jar containing human remains, and have cordoned off the home. The age and origin of the remains is not yet known.

       A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: "At around 12.10pm yesterday (Monday 9 August) we received a report of suspicious circumstances an unoccupied address on Wordsworth Street, Toxteth.

       "Officers attended and located a jar containing preserved human remains at the property.

       "Police remain on Wordsworth Street today (Tuesday 10 August), while extensive enquiries are carried out to establish the provenance and age of the remains.”

       The Liverpool Echo reported a heavy police presence was at the vacant home throughout the night.

       Officers placed a cordon around one home on the road, which is located close to Toxteth Park Cemetery.

       One person living on the street of semi-detached houses said police were ‘all over the road”.
