Fuming parents have hit out at the sudden closure of schools and classrooms across the country due to the risk of concrete collapsing.
At least a hundred schools across England have been ordered to close off areas due to the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) - just days before pupils are set to return from the Summer Holidays.
It is understood around 24 schools will be forced to shut completely while work is carried out - causing disruption to many families.
Although the Government has yet to release a list of the affected schools, at least 50 of them are in Essex.
One mum facing disruption is Martina Eliasova, whose six-year-old daughter is set to start Year Two at Harlow’s Katherines Primary Academy.

Speaking to the BBC, she said: "I don't have family here. I can't say 'mum, can you help my daughter?' I have to either take holiday, or just have her home and somehow battle through."
Meanwhile the parent of a pupil at St Andrew’s junior school in Hatfield Peverel, Essex demanded answers about why it had taken so long for parents to be informed.
Speaking to the Guardian, they said: “We want answers from the government – why leave it so late before telling everyone that the schools had to be closed?”

Damage at a school in Leicester (Image: PA)

Elsewhere in the country, Wendy Kirwood, whose son’s school in Workington, Cumbria, is closing a corridor, library and sports hall, slammed it as an “absolute disgrace” in comments to the BBC.
Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete was used in construction between the 1960s and 1990s.
At least three of the affected schools have been found in east Manchester, the MEN reports.
Shadow culture secretary Lucy Powell, whose Central Manchester constituency includes All Saints C of E primary in Newton Heath - whose assembly hall is shut due to RAAC - slammed the "real incompetence" in only announcing the closures days before schools return.
In a statement she said: "It's [in] one of the most deprived parts of Manchester, where most of the children who arrive aged five are not ready for school.
"At the moment, it looks like they're going to be able to manage around that for most of the pupils, but obviously any part of the building being taken out of use at this stage will damage their education.
"These are some of the poorest, less ready for school children that we have in this country and they really need their schools to be open."
The Government has said a list of affected sites will be published “in due course” but has not said when.
