SHAH ALAM: Over 50,000 members from the NGO Penggerak Komuniti Negara (PKN) will join Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), says PKN chairman Nor Hizwan Ahmad.

       He said this came about during PKN’s convention where a resolution was passed to join PBM.

       “I hereby announce that a total of 53,109 (PKN) members nationwide will join the new party,” he announced at the convention yesterday.

       Nor Hizwan, who is Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin’s former political secretary, said PBM would focus on being a multiracial party, representing the voices of youth and championing the rights of women.

       It would also highlight issues on economy, science and technology as well as education, with its main agenda known as “The Great Reset 2030”.

       “The Great Reset 2030 is our main party agenda and war cry,” he said.

       Nor Hizwan is currently the chief executive officer of the Malaysian Rubber Council, which is under Zuraida’s ministry.

       Zuraida, who was speculated to join the party, was not present at the convention.

       Larry Sng, who founded PBM last month, was elected PBM deputy president at the party’s extraordinary general assembly (EGM) on Nov 14.

       Nor Hizwan said the party was in communication with the Registrar of Societies about holding a fresh EGM to decide on the party leadership.

       “We are considering proposing a few big names.... I am shocked myself as they are ‘big names’ who may join us,” he said, adding that he resigned from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia recently.

       Pressed on how many Bersatu members would join the party, he said that he does not have such a figure.

       On the participation of Zuraida, he said it was unfair to expect him to answer on her behalf.

       “However, she is not here (at the convention) today,” he added.
