A BEAUTIFUL seaside town is being ruined by tourists as police are always being called to the beach, according to furious residents.

Locals living along the Essex seafront have slammed inconsiderate holidaymakers for bringing constant chaos to their once-idyllic home.

Emergency services have responded to roughly a staggering 200 call outs across just one weekend.

A bomb squad leapt into action recently when a piece of old metal was discovered on Clacton beach - but it turned out to be nothing of concern.

Plus, more than 50 reckless tourists have taken to the water on inflatables and been swept out too far, while others have been found in areas designated for boats.

This comes as safety officials had to warn more than 160 people not to climb dangerously on rocks and groynes.

Tendring District Council’s (TDC) Beach Patrol teams recorded 62 patrols along the local seafronts during one June weekend.

They were also needed for 13 ocean rescues and HM Coastguard mobile units had to be sent for three times.

This comes as seven Brits died in the UK within two weeks after drowning while wild swimming.

Councillor Mick Barry (Ind.), TDC Cabinet Member for Leisure and Public Realm, told EssexLive: “The Essex Sunshine Coast is a beautiful place to visit, and as the name suggests very often delivers lovely warm, sunny days.

"Any coastline has inherent dangers in it, such as tides, currents and obstacles, and ours is no exception, and we help to reduce those risks through supervised beaches thanks to our superb Beach Patrol, warning signs and education work too such as Swim Safe.

"That’s why we’re reminding people, following this busy weekend, to stay off the rocks, keep away from underneath piers, groynes and breakwaters, and to leave the inflatables at home – as well as being aware of the state of the tide."

This comes as people living in a resort voted Britain's finest coastal town fear it could come under threat from an influx of tourists and second home-owners.

Residents in Bamburgh, sitting on the picturesque Northumberland coast, say many are being forced out of the area by newcomers.

Elsewhere in the UK, homeowners in summer hotspot St Ives, Cornwall, have had enough of holidaymakers swarming their idyllic coastline.

Each year more visitors arrive, bringing with them traffic chaos, noise and litter, according to fuming locals.

Meanwhile, in Padstow, North Cornwall, glorious golden beaches and picturesque countryside are a hit with tourists - but now its popularity is wreaking havoc with residents.

The disheartened community are so up-in-arms about the worsening housing situation and claim greedy tourists are "overburdening the system".
