A Kremlin propagandist has urged Vladimir Putin to do the unthinkable to help his army repel a determined Ukrainian assault inside Russia.

       Kyiv's forces took the Kremlin by total surprise after launching a daring raid into the Kursk region on Tuesday.

       Ukrainian units stormed through Russian defensive lines, capturing scores of soldiers and villages, as they quickly advanced some ten kilometres into enemy territory.

       Fierce fighting continued to rage around the settlements of Sudzha and Korenev on Thursday, as Putin's army struggled to contain the attack.

       Now a Russian propagandist has given his opinion on how to stop Zelensky's forces in their tracks.

       Sergey Mardan urged the Russian President to unleash his tactical nukes on Ukrainian units fighting in the Kursk region.

       Appearing on the TV show Solovyov Live, he argued it was a logical step to take given the circumstances that the Kremlin's army finds itself in.

       "Those warheads that could possibly be attached to some Russian missiles are capable of doing a little bit more damage," he explained.

       "And as for all the opinions that have been discussed over the last two years about the impossibility of a nuclear strike by Russia, what could be the consequences, what could be the reaction of the West and the global South in particular?

       "Well, everyone will be upset, of course, a little bit. But in general, they will say 'OK. it's logical'.

       "Therefore, a scenario in which a strike is launched against AFU military facilities with the use of nuclear warheads ceases to be theoretical, ceases to be unlikely."

       Tactical nuclear weapons possess a yield that ranges from a fraction of a kiloton to around 50 kilotons.

       By way of comparison, a strategic nuclear weapon has a yield spanning from 100 kilotons to over a megaton, with much larger warheads available.

       Tactical nukes are intended to be used on the battlefield, with some small enough to even fit into a backpack.

       Normally the warhead would be placed on a short-range missile or attached to an artillery shell.

       Russian pro-war bloggers are claiming that the Ukrainian advance has been halted in messages posted to Telegram on Friday.

       The channel "Diary of Aurors" wrote: “The enemy’s advance is completely paralysed. At the moment, the enemy is trying to hold on to what he has occupied.

       "Assault groups have begun carrying out tasks to liberate populated areas. The fighting continues even at night."
