MELAKA: A lorry driver has been arrested for allegedly vandalising flags of political parties at Taman Melaka Perdana in the Alor Gajah district.
State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Abdul Majid Mohd Ali said the man claimed that the flags of three political parties were obstructing traffic and he decided to remove 26 of them.
He said the man was caught red-handed by policemen at 8.45pm on Monday.
The man has been released on police bail after his statement was recorded.
DCP Mohd Majid said police also received five reports on political party flags and banners being vandalised.
On a separate matter, Pakatan Harapan candidate for Lendu state seat Muhammad Asri Ibrahim lodged a police report claiming that his agent was not allowed to enter the early voting centre at Masjid Tanah police station here, Bernama reported.
He claimed that his agent was not allowed to enter because he did not bring sufficient documentation, including a letter of appointment from the Election Commission.
Muhammad Asri said the report was lodged at the Masjid Tanah police station at 10.41am.
