Three people were slain in the District Friday in three separate incidents, including two shootings and a stabbing, according to the police.

       In the latest of the three, a man was fatally shot a few minutes before 8 p.m. in the 5000 block of First Street NW, said Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman.

       The street is just east of New Hampshire Avenue.

       Earlier, a man was fatally shot at about 2:15 p.m. in the 600 block of Division Avenue NE, Carew said. The block includes a strip shopping center and is west of Marvin Gaye Park, and south of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue.

       In the first of the slayings, Michael Phillip Johnson, 21, of Southeast, was found fatally stabbed at about 9:40 a.m. on the south side of the 4900 block of East Capitol Street DC.
