A man was found Tuesday night fatally shot inside a residence in the Grant Park neighborhood of Northeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

       The victim was identified as Eric Shorts Jr., 21, of Northeast.

       Police said they were called about 11:30 p.m. to a residence in the 5700 block of Blaine Road NE, about two blocks from East Capitol Street.

       Inside, police found Shorts suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

       Authorities released no other details of the incident and said they knew of no suspects.

       There have been 132 homicides in the District this year, up 10 percent from this date in 2020.
