Woman, 23, charged with death by dangerous driving after six-month-old baby killed in horror crash

       A WOMAN has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a baby girl was killed in an alleged drink-drive crash.

       The six-month-old was in another car when it was involved in a collision with a BMW driven by Lucy Dyer, 23, on Friday night.

       Police say the smash happened at the Heol Goffa crossroads in the Welsh town of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, at about 9pm.

       It involved a blue BMW 3 Series and a blue Vauxhall Vectra, officers added.

       Emergency services dashed to the scene of the smash but the baby, who has not been named, died from her injuries.

       Specialist officers are providing support to the family.

       Dyer, of Llanelli, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, and drink driving, in connection with the fatal road traffic collision.

       A police spokesperson said: "She has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Llanelli Magistrates Court on Monday, October 11."

       Flowers and tributes were left at the roadside in memory of the baby, described as "a shining star in heaven".

       Cops are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the fatal crash to come forward.

       Anyone with information can report it to Dyfed-Powys Police online or by calling 101 quoting DP-20211008-415, or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

       It comes after a toddler was hit by a police car as he walked home from school with his mum.

       The crash happened on a 20mph residential street in Pen-y-Cae, Wrexham, at around 3.30pm on Friday.

       An ambulance attended the incident and the child was rushed to hospital.

       Onlookers told how the tot was walking with a woman and another child when he was struck by the cop car.

       Resident Vanessa Jones, 30, said: "The mother was hysterical. As I got there the little boy was trying to stand up."

       North Wales Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information or dashcam footage, to contact the force quoting Z148033.
