SEREMBAN: The recent discovery of a woman’s body in a ravine near here has opened up a can of worms, with two murders and two cases of abuse now being investigated.
Police investigating the murder of a 29-year-old woman and a five-year-old girl have stumbled upon two cases of physical abuse involving another woman and child.
Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Nanda Maarof said police believed the abuse cases involving a 35-year-old woman and a 20-month-old toddler, who are currently receiving treatment, were connected to the two murders.
“We are compiling all the evidence and hope to charge those behind the crimes soon,” he said in a statement yesterday.
On March 20, police found the woman’s remains in a ravine at KM14 Jalan Lama Bukit Putus-Seremban.
Three suspects – two brothers aged 44 and 41 and an 18-year-old girl who is the older sibling’s daughter – were nabbed two days later.
It is learnt that the victim was also related to the suspects.
ACP Nanda said the preliminary police probe showed that only one of the three suspects was involved in the abuse cases.
The order to remand the 44-year-old suspect ends today while the two others will remain in custody until April 16.
