The Prime Minister launched his bid for Britain and Ireland to host the showpiece in nine years' time. He made the petition on Tuesday at a meeting in Downing Street with Aleksander Ceferin, president of Uefa, the governing body of football in Europe.
But Mr Ceferin pointed out that there should only be one European contender for the 2030 World Cup so that the vote is not divided.
Spain and Portugal have also put forward a joint proposal for the tournament.
England has campaigned to host the World Cup twice but been rejected both times.
Mr Johnson has praised England manager Gareth Southgate and his team over their performance throughout the European Championship.
He wished them luck in their attempt to defeat Denmark in the semi-finals.
The Prime Minister said: “Gareth Southgate and the England squad have done the nation proud in the Euros, and tonight we will all be wishing them the best of luck in getting to the final.
“Bring it home!”
It has been announced that pubs will be allowed to stay open until 11.15pm on Sunday night, during the final, so those watching the game can watch in full if it goes to extra time and penalties.
Normally pubs are required to close at 10.30pm on a Sunday night.
