KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah governor Tun Sakaran Dandai is recuperating from Covid-19 at a private hospital here, says his son Datuk Seri Nasir Sakaran.
He said his 91-year-old father was in the intensive care unit of Gleneagles Hospital and his condition is stable.
"We are communicating with him all the time through video calls," Nasir, a former state minister, said on Wednesday (Aug 25).
Nasir said Sakaran was admitted to hospital on Aug 19.
"He is responding to treatment," he added.
Sakaran, who was Umno's first chief minister in Sabah in 1994, was Yang di-Pertua Negeri from 1995-2003 before retiring.
