EasyJet mystery: Airline responds to 'emergency alert' on flight to London from Edinburgh

       According to Scot Radar a Squawk 7700 alert was issued as the aircraft flew over Biggar.

       A spokesperson for EasyJet said no alert was issued.

       They said: “The Captain has confirmed that the flight operated normally without any issues.

       “There was no squwk alert from our aircraft.”

       It continued on its journey, with The Sun reporting it landed in London at 7.17am.

       'It is unclear why an emergency signal was reported by the flight monitoring account.

       Online plane monitors noted the alert, and shared the news on social media.

       The aircraft took off from Edinburgh at shortly after 6am.

       Shortly afterwards Scot Radar, a Twitter account which monitors planes over Scotland, tweeted: “<<<EMERGENCY DECLARED>>> Aircraft is: G-UZHH.

       “User: easyJet Callsign: EZY19XP #Squawk 7700 Signal Unknown.”
