PETALING JAYA: The “Datin” mentioned in a viral audio clip which criticised the state of affairs in the Foreign Ministry was an officer of a former foreign minister, according to Wisma Putra.

       Without naming names, it said an internal investigation task force also identified the voice of the man making the complaint in the audio clip.

       “An individual was called to assist in investigations and he admitted it was his voice and that his message was addressed to a ‘Datin’ who was an officer to a former foreign minister before the Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional administrations,” Wisma Putra said in a statement yesterday.

       Wisma Putra also said it would hand over its findings to the police as a police report had been made on April 11.

       “The internal investigation report will be handed to the police for further investigation and action,” the statement read.

       In the clip, an unidentified man is heard describing the “dire state of affairs” in Wisma Putra to someone whom he addresses as “Datin”.

       He is heard saying that it was better for him to send a taped recording to her so that she could refer to it anytime.

       Wisma Putra has come under fire for the fiasco involving the recall of a Malaysian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and consul-general in Dubai.
