KUALA LUMPUR: City police have arrested one man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy who had been reportedly missing.

In a statement on Wednesday (Jan 17), City police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that a report was lodged on Jan 12 by the 16-year-old victim.

He alleged that he was sexually assaulted by a man in a hotel in Jalan Sultan here.

"Information gathered in this case led to the arrest of a 42-year-old man in front of a hotel in Jalan Sultan, who we believe is linked to the case. He has been remanded from Jan 13 until Jan 19.

"Also, in this case, the police have found that the teenager was not kidnapped as reported. He instead had left his home in Hulu Bernam, and an investigation on this matter is still ongoing," he said.

It is known that city police were investigating the alleged sexual assault, whereas Hulu Selangor was conducting investigations into the boy's disappearance.

The victim's brother, who had also gone missing with him, had yet to be found.
