KUALA LUMPUR: The Armed Forces have conducted Ops Murni focusing on flood-hit areas in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Perak, Terengganu and Kelantan.
Armed Forces chief Jeneral Tan Sri Affendi Buang said a total of 63 officers and 856 personnel members have been deployed for flood relief efforts.
"They have been deployed for various relief efforts including assisting in saving and relocating flood victims as well as distributing food aid.
"We have also mobilised military assets such as trucks, boats and air assets," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 21).
The Armed Forces are ready with the strength of one company consisting of five officers and 97 personnel members, who have been placed on standby at each state.
"They can be deployed to flood-hit areas when additional manpower is needed.
"We are always ready to deploy personnel and assets to disrupted areas as well as assisting local authorities and other agencies for flood operations," he added.
Jen Affendi said the Armed Forces is always committed to assisting local authorities to save victims affected by the floods, especially in relocating them to safer areas.
