Stuart Mitchell, 30, had been set to join mates at the music festival on the Bank Holiday but took his own life in July. His remains, though, were blasted into the sky as up to 70,000 ravers danced away at the climax of the event.

       Stuart's cousins Ryan and Liam Millen arranged for a banner to be made, bearing the dad-of-one's photograph holding his three-year-old son Oliver, with the message: "This last dance is for you mate."

       And Ryan, 34, carried the banner around the festival in Cheshire all weekend before managing to get it on the main stage for headliner Tiesto to fire them out the confetti cannon.

       "When Stuart's ashes were fired out, my heart literally skipped a beat, I was lost for words and beside myself," Ryan told Liverpool Echo.

       "I'm bowled over by what happened.

       "We were privileged to honour him in such a way."

       Tiesto, 52, is a Grammy award-winning Dutch DJ, famed for remixing pop hits like All of Me by John Legend.

       The DJ's version of Adagio For Strings was played at Stuart's funeral.

       And Stuart was a huge music fan, who'd already bought his tickets to the festival.

       In a note sent to Ryan and his friends, Stuart's dad wrote: "I would be most grateful if you were able to scatter them somewhere at Creamfields, so that he truly went there one last time."

       Ryan, from Knowsley, Merseyside, added: "Words cannot express our gratitude to his family for allowing us, to everyone who listened to his story and took pictures with the banner, and most importantly to the Creamfields production team for going above and beyond to accommodate us and go out of their way to allow us to honour his memory in such a fitting way.

       "Stuart Mitchell, we are humbled to have been allowed to help you complete your journey with us.

       "You will forever be a part of one of your favourite places.

       "A piece of you always be with Creamfields."
