IPOH: The Perak Health Department is investigating a case where a clump of human hair was found in a piece of kuih supposedly bought from a Ramadan bazaar here.
A video clip of the tainted "kuih tepung pelita" dessert, with the unwelcome ‘ingredient’ went viral on social media recently.
Perak Health, Science, Environment and Technology Committee chairman, Mohd Akmal Kamarudin said the investigation was to prevent such a case from recurring and to protect the public.
“Any similar case should be reported to Food Safety Division,” Mohd Akmal said.
Members of the public can channel complaints or information to 05-245 6000 and the Department’s official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/bkkm.jknperak.
On April 6, two siblings aged nine and seven experienced diarrhoea and vomiting after consuming what was believed to be pudding bought from a Ramadan bazaar in Kuala Terengganu.
