Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have embarked on a visit to New York City, their first major public trip since leaving the Royal Family. The couple is said to have brought with same a large entourage, while the Sussexes extract itinerary is a closely guarded secret. Channel 7 journalist Ashlee Mullany told Australia's Sunrise show that the couple are also believed to be staying at Princess Diana's favourite hotels in the city.

       7News reporter Mullany told Sunrise: "After taking a break from public life this is shaping up to be a very public tour in New York City.

       "The first big visit really since leaving the Royal Family."

       She added: "The exact details of their trip is a closely guarded secret.

       "Although we do know they will be attending the Global Citizen Live event in Central Park.

       "They have been causing quite a stir.

       "Getting lots of attention with a huge entourage rolling through New York City.

       "The pair reportedly staying at the Carlyle Hotel.

       "Which was a favourite hotel of Princess Di's"

       The couple's New York Trip comes a week after Meghan and Harry garnered much publicity with a debut appearance on Time’s 100 most influential people list.

       Though the photos that were taken of the couple to go alongside the nomination have been met with bemusement with one royal expert confessing he had not thought the images were genuine at first.

       Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden told Palace Confidential that the pictures of the couple look like "something satirical."

       Mr Eden said: “I couldn’t believe these pictures were genuine when I saw them.

       “Maybe there have been so many memes of them online and everything since."

       He added: “When you look at the Queen who has advised so many prime ministers over the years. She’s head of state for so many countries - surely she should be on the list.”

       Palace Confidential host Jo Elvin replied: “On the other hand, they genuinely are the most talked-about people on the planet right now.”
