PETALING JAYA: PKR has sent a letter representing all its 35 MPs to the King, opposing Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's leadership, says Fahmi Fadzil.
"I can say, representing all of the MPs, that we reject Muhyiddin and do not support him as prime minister," the PKR strategic communications director said on Tuesday (Aug 10) night.
The confirmation by PKR is the latest slew of letters sent by several Opposition parties, including a group of Umno MPs to the King opposing Muhyiddin's premiership.
Besides PKR, Umno has also confirmed that the party had sent two letters and statutory declarations (SD) by 13 of its MPs to the King, retracting support for Muhyiddin and the Perikatan Nasional administration.
The letters and SDs were made public through the party's online portal on Monday (Aug 9).
On Monday (Aug 9), Parti Pejuang Tanah Air information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamuddin said that four of the party's MPs had sent letters to the King rejecting Muhyiddin's leadership as prime minister.
Party Warisan Sabah lawmaker Datuk Azis Jamman confirmed on Twitter on Monday (Aug 9) that the party's nine MPs had also sent letters to the King rejecting Muhyiddin's leadership.
The move by the Opposition and a group of Umno lawmakers to voice their rejection of Muhyiddin as prime minister comes in the wake of the coming Parliament meeting this Sept 6.
On Aug 4, Muhyiddin announced that he would table a motion of confidence to determine the legitimacy of his position in the Dewan Rakyat in September following his audience with the King at Istana Negara.
