MELAKA: Villagers at Kampungku Sayang in Bukit Katil here can breathe a sigh of relief following the capture of a pair of pythons believed to have been killing their livestock since last year.
Bukit Katil Fire and Rescue Department commanding officer Abdillah Hamid said eight men were rushed to the village to capture both the pythons at about 12.50pm on Sunday (Jan 6).
"The male python is about 2.7m and weighs about 7kg. As for the female, it is about 4.5m and weighs about 140kg to 150kg.," he said.
He said the pythons were captured using special equipment in about 15mins at their hideout in a bushy area at the village.
Abdillah said the department had been receiving frequent calls on the sightings of the reptiles at the village.
He added the pythons would be handed over to Melaka Zoo.
