MPOB: CPO stocks rose 35% at 950,711 tonnes in August

       KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian crude palm oil (CPO) stocks for August 2021 improved by 35.07 per cent to 950,711 tonnes from the 703,881 tonnes recorded in the previous month, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).

       Processed palm oil inventory rose 16.59 per cent month-on-month (m-o-m) to 924,035 tonnes from 792,582 tonnes, the agency said in its industry performance report for August.

       "Overall, palm oil stocks recovered 25.28 per cent to 1.87 million tonnes from 1.49 million tonnes previously.

       "On production, CPO output gained by 11.80 per cent to 1.70 million tonnes against 1.52 million tonnes in July,” MPOB said.

       The output of palm kernel was up by 16.04 per cent to 426,226 tonnes from 367,309 tonnes in the preceding month, it said, adding that crude palm kernel oil production was 11.61 per cent higher to 191,818 tonnes from 171,860 tonnes in July.

       Meanwhile, MPOB said that palm oil exports eased 17.06 per cent m-o-m to 1.16 million tonnes in August from 1.40 million tonnes in July, while palm kernel oil exports fell 24.70 per cent m-o-m to 85,351 tonnes from 113,350 tonnes in the preceding month.

       "Oleochemical exports also dropped 8.40 per cent m-o-m to 224,354 tonnes from 244,940 tonnes.

       "Nevertheless, biodiesel exports surged 138.66 per cent m-o-m to 56,891 tonnes from 23,838 tonnes,” it said.

       The agency said Malaysia did not import CPO for the month of August from the 6,496 tonnes imported in July, while total palm oil imports increased 68.09 per cent to 91,408 tonnes from 54,381 tonnes in the preceding month. - Bernama
