JERANTUT: Five Petroleum Malaysia Sdn Bhd is looking into expanding its operations and setting up more petrol stations nationwide including in Sabah and Sarawak.

Its managing director Datuk Seri Dr King Lim Chin Fui said the company would be allocating RM180mil in terms of capital expenditure for this year.

"We started out aggressively in 2020 but our expansion plans were put on hold following the Covid-19 pandemic.

"This year, with the economy slowly getting back on track, we decided to kickstart our plans in full swing with the opening of our 42nd petrol station in Batu Balai, Jerantut, here today," he said after the opening ceremony by Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid.

Lim said 15 more petrol stations would be opened by March and April in Peninsular Malaysia.

The locations are Merlimau in Melaka, Jenjarom,Rawang, Sg Burung, Sg Plong and Serendah (all in Selangor), Kemayan, Kerayong, Lanchang and Sungei Lembing in Pahang, Lukut and Rantau in Negri Sembilan, Melor and Bukit Besi in Terengganu as well as Kubang Pasu in Kedah.

"We have set a target to set up 100 petrol stations by year end including several in East Malaysia with the support and assistance of the government.

"All our stations are digitalised with AI (artificial intelligence) features to provide more comfort, convenience and user friendly service to serve our customers, regardless of urban areas, outskirts or rural towns," he said.

Lim also said their expansion plans include constructing more stations in main cities, suburban, new housing commercial areas and highways such as Karak KL Highway, East Coast Highway, Kuala Kangsar, Sauk, Senai, Bangi, Puchong, Kluah in Sarawak, Kota Kinabalu, Lahad Datu, Gurun and Lojing.

Separately, Five Petroleum chairman Datuk Juhari Abdul Ghani said by prioritising local products and securing the supply of petroleum from within the country, it could prevent an outflow of Malaysian ringgit.

He also said their fleet of stations also offer value added services such as Woo!mart, Woo!shop, Woo!grocer, Woo!cafe and postal services (WooParcel).

"To date, we have received more than 200 applications to join as a petrol dealer under our flagship brand," he said.
