IJM unit wins RM268mil ECRL contract

       KUALA LUMPUR: IJM Corp Bhd 's unit IJM Construction Sdn Bhd has secured a RM258mil contract from China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd for the East Coast Rail Link project in Temerloh, Pahang.

       IJM said in a statement that IJM Construction’s scope of work under the contract includes the construction of substructure works and partial superstructure works for the Sungai Pahang bridge, as well as T-Beam

       fabrication and installation of this bridge as well as other bridges in Section 6 of the rail link.

       Construction work on the project is scheduled to start end of this month and is due for completion in 24 months from the commencement date.

       "We are delighted to be part of this strategically important mega project and to be working with China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd.

       "We continue to build on our 38 years of experience and expertise in delivering civil works for major and nationally-significant infrastructure projects,” said IJM Corp CEO and managing director Liew Hau Seng.

       IJM Construction's outstanding order book remains healthy at RM4bil, it said.

       Meanwhile, IJM's spun piles manufacturing unit has set a record for producing the longest ever pretensioned spun high strength concrete piles in the company’s history.

       With a length of 90m and a diameter of 1000mm, the spun pile was custom-casted for a megaproject, the Batang Lupar bridge, in Sebuyau, Sarawak, it said.
