KUALA LUMPUR: The pre-launch of the autobiography 'Soldier to King' written by Kedah's Sultan Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah took place in conjunction with the 2022 Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) here.
The pre-launch of the 305-page book on Sunday (June 5), which chronologises Sultan Sallehuddin's life, including his 10 years as a soldier until his inauguration as Kedah Sultan, was officiated online by Tunku Laksamana Kedah, Datuk Seri Tunku Shazuddin Ariff Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin.
The book, which took four years to write, was published by the Office of the Kedah Sultan in collaboration with the Royal Malay Regiment and the Royal Service Corps, Seri Libana Sdn Bhd and Bukhary Sdn Bhd.
The book is published in Malay and English so it can be shared with readers across the world.
According to a statement distributed to the media immediately after the pre-launch, the Kedah Sultan's personal accounts recorded in the book are capable of evoking the spirit of nationalism and patriotism among youth and can serve as a guide for the future generation of Malaysia's military.
Meanwhile, Tunku Shazuddin, when officiating at the pre-launch ceremony, expressed his appreciation and thanks to the Kedah government and the publishers for commemorating his father's service and involvement in the military.
"I would like to congratulate all parties involved directly or indirectly in the publication of this book," Tunku Shazuddin said.
Royal Malay Regiment chairman Maj Gen Datuk Muhammad Huzaimi Sabri, Royal Service Corps chairman Maj Gen Abdul Aziz Samsi @ Shamsudin, Army Training Commander Maj Gen Datuk Nazari Abd Hadi and Gen (R) Tan Sri Mohd Azumi Mohamed were also present.
The official launch of this biography will be held in conjunction with the Birthday of His Royal Highness Tuanku Sultan of Kedah and will be in the bookstores by mid-June this year. – Bernama
