Meghan Markle and Harry's Oprah interview Emmy nod is 'more bad news' for Royal Family

Royal author Duncan Larcombe warned the tell-all interview, which plunged the Royal Family into crisis, will be the centre of attention once again ahead of the Emmys on September 19. The programme, which aired in March, saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex make a set of explosive claims about the monarchy.

Mr Larcombe told OK! magazine: "The Emmys nod is more bad news for the royals.

"It means that as awards gain momentum, once again Harry and Meghan's attack on the institution will be repeated over and over again."

The Sussexes, who quit royal duties last year for a new life in California, made a series of damaging allegations against the royals as they poured their hearts out to Oprah.

They accused an unnamed member of the Royal Family - not the Queen or Duke of Edinburgh - of making a racist comment about their son Archie.

And Meghan claimed she was turned away when she approached the monarchy for help after being left feeling suicidal.

Harry also laid bare his rifts with his father Prince Charles and older brother Prince William.

In response, the royals made clear they did not agree with all of the Sussexes' version of events.

A statement issued by Buckingham Palace said that "some recollections may vary".

Harry went on to make further controversial comments about his family in the following weeks.

The Sussexes stepped back as working royals in March 2020 and are now living in Montecito with their two-year-old son Archie and newborn daughter Lili.

Harry returned to the UK for only the second time since Megxit for the unveiling of a Princess Diana statue at Kensington Palace earlier this month.

He and William put their ongoing rift aside for the event at Kensington Palace.

Former actress Meghan remained in the US with their two children.

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards are due to take place on September 19.
