PETALING JAYA: Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris will not be appealing against Umno's decision to suspend him from the party for six years.

       "I will not appeal against this decision because before this I was not summoned by the disciplinary board.

       "I do not know what mistakes are and I was not given a chance to defend myself.

       "I feel I do not need to appeal. I will leave it to the grassroots and the party leadership to judge Umno," he said on Wednesday (Sept 1).

       Wan Muhammad also said Umno needed to regain public trust and confidence.

       In a letter sighted by The Star, Wan Muhammad, who is also known as Papagomo, is said to have violated various party regulations including requirements for members to adhere to party instructions, implement party policies, adhere and respect party decisions and to preserve the good name of the party.

       The letter was signed by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan dated Sept 1.

       In April, a group of Umno members from the Wangsa Maju division lodged a police report to the party's disciplinary board, calling for Wan Muhammad to be suspended from the party.

       They alleged that he had used his social media accounts to issue statements instead of through proper channels, claiming this was a violation of the party constitution.

       Among his posts were of him persuading Umno leaders and grassroots to cooperate with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, despite a resolution of no cooperation with Bersatu that was passed in its general assembly in March.
