PETALING JAYA: Parents and guardians of school-going children have been advised to follow set guidelines in ensuring a smooth reopening of schools in Terengganu beginning Sunday (Oct 3).
Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said this was especially when it was time for the students to arrive at schools, and when lessons were over.
"I also hope school principals and headmasters will ensure the school session tomorrow will be held in a safe and orderly manner," he said, adding that the ministry was committed to doing its best.
Dr Radzi said this in a Facebook post on Saturday (Oct 2), ahead of the reopening of schools in stages starting on Sunday (Oct 3).
The minister was in Kuala Terengganu to check the final preparations in schools ahead of the reopening of face-to-face classes.
Schools in Terengganu were allowed to reopen in line with procedures under Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
It was reported that schools would reopen with 50% capacity per classroom beginning on Sunday.
This would involve all schools in states under Phase Three and Four of the NRP.
While in Terengganu, Dr Radzi said he had checked seven schools in the Hulu Terengganu district including SMK Kuala Telemong, SMS Hulu Terengganu, Kolej Tingkatan Enam Hulu Terengganu and SMK Seri Berang.
He had also visited SMK Tengku Ampuan Intan, SMK Tun Indera and SMK Ajil.
"On the whole, the schools are ready to begin the face-to-face lessons in line with the fixed guidelines.
"However, a few matters need to be addressed such as ensuring good ventilation in classrooms or in any rooms for home-based learning and teacher’s rooms.
"Aside from that, cleanliness should always be prioritised by all who attend school," he added.
