PETALING JAYA: Parents and guardians of school-going children have been advised to follow set guidelines to ensure a smooth reopening of schools.

This is especially so when students arrive at school, and when lessons are over, said Senior Minister (Education) Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin.

“I hope school principals and headmasters will ensure school sessions will be held in a safe and orderly manner,” he said in a Facebook post ahead of the reopening of schools in stages starting today.

Dr Radzi was in Kuala Terengganu to check on the final preparations in schools before face-to-face classes resume.

Schools in Terengganu are allowed to reopen in line with procedures under Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

It was reported that schools will reopen with 50% capacity per classroom beginning today.

This will involve all schools in states under Phase Three and Four of the NRP.

While in Terengganu, Dr Radzi said he checked seven schools in the Hulu Terengganu district including SMK Kuala Telemong, SMS Hulu Terengganu, Kolej Tingkatan Enam Hulu Terengganu and SMK Seri Berang. He also visited SMK Tengku Ampuan Intan, SMK Tun Indera and SMK Ajil.

“Schools are ready to begin face-to-face lessons in accordance with the fixed guidelines.

“However, a few matters need to be addressed such as ensuring good ventilation in classrooms or in any room for home-based learning and the teachers’ rooms.

“Aside from that, cleanliness should always be prioritised by all who attend school,” he added.
