KOTA TINGGI: A 69-year-old man was found dead by his friend in his house in Kampung Desa Makmur, here.

       Kota Tinggi fire station operation commander Ibrahim Abd Wahid said that the department received a distress call at 1.07pm on Tuesday (June 29) from the victim’s friend.

       “The caller had come to visit the victim at the house at Kampung Desa Makmur to check on him as he was living alone.

       “The caller had tried calling a few times but it went unanswered. He then peeked through the window and saw his friend lying unconscious on the floor,” Ibrahim said in a statement here.

       He added that the department deployed 13 personnel with one firetruck and one Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) to the location.

       “The rescue team entered through the opened window and conducted surveillance in the surrounding area.

       “The victim was later pronounced dead by the medical team from the Health Ministry and the body had been handed over to the police for further action,” he added.

       Meanwhile, Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said that a police report has been lodged by the victim’s friend at the Batu Ampat police station.

       “The post-mortem report from the Kota Tinggi Hospital confirmed that the cause of death was due to a heart attack.

       “Investigations on the location did not find any element of criminal activity and there were no signs of injury on the body,” he said, adding that the case is classified as sudden death.
