NIBONG TEBAL: A plastic manufacturing factory in Simpang Ampat here was 60% destroyed in a fire that broke out in the wee hours of Wednesday (July 7).
Luckily, there were no casualties.
The Penang Fire and Rescue Department said they received a distress call at 3.55am.
“When the Fire and Rescue team arrived at the scene, it was found that the fire involved a class B plastic goods manufacturing plant.
“The estimated percentage of total destruction of the fire is around 60%.
“The fire was brought under control at 4.35am and extinguishing work was still underway.
“The Sungai Bakap Fire and Rescue team was assisted by the Batu Kawan, Nibong Tebal and Bayan Baru voluntary fire squad.
“No victims were reported involved,” the department said in a statement.
