Tamil school has another success story to tell

       PUPILS at a Tamil primary school in Simpang Ampat, Penang, are excelling at international and local competitions including in robotics, science innovation and now, storytelling, Malaysia Nanban.

       Continuing SJK (T) Permatang Tinggi’s recent success were three sisters who took gold, silver and bronze medals at an international English competition.

       Oviasthi Suresh won gold in the storytelling competition.

       Her sister Yathra Suresh won a silver while their younger sister Dhiya Natchatra, who is enrolled in the Tamil preschool won a bronze award.

       The report did not provide the name of the competition, which was held online.

       School headmistress Tamil Selvi said the pupils’ success was made possible due to the efforts of their English language teachers.

       Last year, the school won awards at the annual World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA) that was also held online.

       The school which was reportedly founded in 1933 now has more than 700 pupils.
